Mike Kvasnicka

“Kvas” is the Owner, CEO, and Director of Player Development at Northstar Baseball Club. Along with current University of Minnesota Head Coach Ty McDevitt, Kvas founded Northstar in 2016.
Mike is a former Lakeville North High School and University of Minnesota standout, as well as a 2-time Major League Baseball Draft selection… His game experience in high level baseball is hard to rival. Throughout his professional career in the Astros and Twins farm systems, Kvas was able to play for two organizations that currently hold some of the best young talent in Major League Baseball today. In those 6 years, Mike played in all 3 levels of the field, spending time at 3B, Catcher, and OF.
Kvas’ experience, perspective and passion for teaching is visible in all areas of Northstar. Kvas has also been on the forefront of innovation in skill development with his Elite Hitters Program, a phased off-season training program for advanced hitters in the Twin Cities area. The program Mike has developed is a combination of movement pattern drill work, video swing analysis, mechanical and approach “chalk-talks”, high-speed machine work, vision training, and Live At-Bats facing members of Northstar’s Complete Pitchers Program.
In addition to his time at Northstar, Kvas spent the 2023 season as an Assistant Coach at the University of Minnesota, as well as three years as the Head Coach at Cretin-Derham Hall High School.
Overall, Kvas prides himself on his ability to teach the highest level skills of the game, drawn from his experience in professional baseball, while imparting upon young players a healthy and mature perspective on the game of baseball and its life lessons. He is a dedicated family man, cherishing every moment he spends with his wife Kimberly, his son Mac and daughter, Morgan. As a family, they enjoy time outdoors, working in the garden, camping, hiking, canoeing and fishing. Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Youth Studies from the University of Minnesota in the School of Social Work.
